Well-known for their work in Capital Markets, Grandall Law Firm’s addition will boost ASEAN Plus Group’s (APG) legal expertise in dealing with complex regional and cross border investments and transactions

Singapore, 1 February 2018 – ASEAN Plus Group, a Pan-Asian grouping of leading legal firms today announced its latest alliance member – Grandall Law Firm – effective from January 2018.

ASEAN Plus Group (APG), an initiative by RHTLaw Taylor Wessing LLP, is made up of leading firms in 13 markets, offering clients access to more than 3,000 lawyers in the opportunity-rich ASEAN region and beyond. The APG is a group of full-service law firms that blends the best of knowledge, culture and international expertise, with the capacity to handle the most complex regional cross-border transactions. The APG firms have a strong presence in Asia, led by RHTLaw Taylor Wessing with offices located in Singapore, Vietnam, Hong Kong and China, and offices of member law firms in Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand. Their clients range from early stage businesses to the world’s foremost brands.

One of China’s largest trans-regional partnership law firms, Grandall Law Firm boasts 400 partners and 1,600 lawyers in 28 offices throughout China and overseas offices in Hong Kong, Paris, Madrid, Silicon Valley and Stockholm. Of these 400 partners, most of them are well-known experts in certain legal fields or famous scholars with specialised legal expertise. Most of the firm’s recent work involved advising Chinese companies which were active in the highly anticipated “One Belt, One Road” (OBOR) initiative.

Grandall deals with a diverse span of practice areas which include investment, company affairs, banking & trust, antitrust, infrastructure, real estate, intellectual property, dispute resolution and World Trade Organisation & International Trade Remedy.  Grandall has an impressive ongoing track record leading China-based IPOs and as well as in advising large state-owned enterprises (SOEs), commercial banks, securities companies, trust & insurance companies and fund companies from China.

Azman Jaafar, Deputy Managing Partner of RHTLaw Taylor Wessing LLP and Chairman of APG commented, “We are indeed delighted to welcome Grandall into the ASEAN Plus Group. With increased focus on China outbound investments and her “One Belt, One Road” initiative, we are witnessing the trend of Chinese investors and capital leaving China to invest in businesses outside China. At APG, we intend to be ahead of the curve to serve our Chinese clients better together with Grandall.  To that end, Grandall’s membership will bolster the capabilities of our APG partner firms in many areas including Chinese litigation and arbitration.  We are living in interesting times.”

At the “Belt and Road” International Cooperation Forum held in Chengdu, China in July 2017, Grandall along with RHTLaw Taylor Wessing LLP, several APG partner firms and 32 other law firms from 20 countries signed a  Cooperation Charter.

“We are excited to be a member of the ASEAN Plus Group. With the implementation of China’s One Belt One Road initiative, we can look forward to more cooperation between Grandall and RHTLaw Taylor Wessing in rendering legal support to Chinese enterprises in the near future. There will also be other business opportunities with our fellow APG members, particularly in the areas of investment, mergers and acquisitions,” said LV Hongbing, Chief Executive Partner of Grandall Law Firm.
